"Reasons To Date A Volleyball Girl

1. She knows when to turn off being a bitch
This is the best trait volleyball players have, and the number one reason why you should date them. It’s no secret that when you put a lot of girls together for long periods of time — whether it be full-weekend tournaments, bus rides or two-a-day practices — they will fight and gossip. But volleyball players have an ability to get along when it truly matters.

You could hate the girl next to you, but the moment you get on the court, every problem you two have is forgotten (until you come out with a win). When it comes to relationships, this is an important trait to possess. She knows what fights to have, when to have them and when to keep her cool.

2. She’s willing to learn
Like any athlete, she isn’t just born great. It takes practice to memorize plays and master skills like foot work, ball control and transitioning. You need to know when to take the ball with your hands instead of forearms. You need to know what hitter to set to if one of your hitters is having a bad day. Strategy is always required. In relationships, she’s going to patient with you.

She knows the importance of watching, learning and adjusting. She will learn from you and will make the proper adjustments. Like a team, you both want a successful relationship, and the only way to accomplish that is by learning from each other.

3. She is resilient
Unlike other sports, once a team gets too far ahead, it’s hopeless to keep trying.I admire those players who are down 5-1 with two minutes remaining and still give it their all, but volleyball is a different type of sport. In the matter of five minutes, the tables can turn entirely in your favor. A score of 24-17 can turn into 24-24 if you don’t mess up.This means she will never give up on you, even when things aren’t perfect. She’ll work through problems and will give it her all.

4. She’s tough
She’s probably been hit in the face by one of the top college volleyball players in the state, gotten a bloody nose or a minor concussion at some point in her playing career. But, those kinds of situations define your character. No matter what happens on the court, you can’t whine about it. You have to do your best to shake it off and keep going.Volleyball players know they are tough, and they are trained to get right back up after every fall. It’s in their character.

When you two have a disagreement, she will always handle herself with grace and poise. She will also be there to remind you to get back up if you have fallen.

5. She’s fearless
When you are down against a team you shouldn’t be losing against, you are willing to sacrifice everything to change your coach’s disappointed expression and avoid the possibility of losing. You sacrifice your body for every point, and as long as you come out with a win, you don’t care if the result is injury.

You dive into those chairs, and you bang into those bleachers. This means you aren’t going to make her nervous. She’s dealt with many physically and mentally terrifying things in her life. She will make you do things you might fear, but it will lead to a lifetime of adventures.

6. She’s a team player
Team chemistry is the key to success in volleyball. Pasta parties and girls’ nights are taken seriously, and she will always pick her teammates over you. Accept that, but also know she will respect your values, too.

She won’t question if you need a boys’ night, and she won’t text you on your night out, asking what you’re doing and who you’re talking to. She’ll leave you be because she understands the importance of relationships outside of your relationship, and she will always respect those lines and the people who are important to you.

7. She’s forgiving
In volleyball, you need others in order to succeed. You can have the best player in the world on the court, but it won’t matter if the team isn’t in it together. Together you win, and together you lose. So, if it’s at game point, and one of your teammates blows it, leaving the score 25-23, you can’t be mad at her.You forgive, and you try for the next game. A point is never on the individual. Rather, a team point is earned or lost.In relationships, she will forgive you, she won’t hold things against you and she understands no one is perfect.

If the tight spandex, cute bikinis and flexibility aren’t reasons enough to date her, her personal characteristics make her a great potential girlfriend. "

Chanced upon this article some time ago and decided to show it to Vincent, just because it's so true!! And Vincent's reaction after reading?

"I can tell your face got hit by balls quite often."

Thanks!

The first trimester

It was HORRIBLE. The shock of losing control over my body, the nausea, the vomitting, the cold sweats.

Having exams was another thing. I was constantly tired, I kept drifting in and out of sleep, could not focus at all. Commuting becomes so difficult, when I finally made it home on the first day, I feel so proud of myself I teared. The second time I almost gave up on taking exam, as by the time I reach school, I thought I was going to pass out. I did not do well for the papers but I'm glad I pass, cannot imagine a retest.

Performing daily activities becomes tough, my most dreaded being teeth-brushing. It is super puke-inducing and it drains all my energy. Had to keep myself distracted everytime so I won't concentrate too much on puking. Now I think I can memorize all the ingredients of facial washes, toothpaste and whatever was at the sink.

Everytime I take a shower, I feel like I ran 10km. So I shower and wash my face every 2-3 days. For someone who used to slap 10 skincare products twice a day, the frequency says alot.

It was the festive season. I had to cancel my birthday celebrations and xmas exchanges with friends. I tried going out, but after 1-2hrs, I find myself desperately wanting to go home. Being cooped up at home surely brings about some depression too.

Conclusion: I came out of my first trimester appreciating good health more. I think I can relate a bit better to people who are ill. Not knowing where is the end of suffering, and nothing you do helps with the condition. Although I just return to my pre-pregnancy appetite, I feel so grateful to be normal again.

The hubby

The man don't get it, true story.

I became very reliant on him, besides buying dinner for me everyday, I sometimes ask him to run errands like buying milk and nuts. Maybe it happened too often, maybe I always complained he bought the wrong things, he got frustrated with me. I understand why he feels this way, because in the past, if someone was pregnant and acted the way I did, I will think the same way too.

Then he told me, "you used to travel the globe by yourself and come back in one piece, why are you like that now?" Exactly! That's why I am more frustrated with myself than you are with me! I cannot accept myself for being so weak! But then again, from a man's point of view, he wasn't wrong in thinking that way, I have indeed changed, just because I'm pregnant.

However! One thing I cannot stand - comparison. He did not say it once or twice, but many many times! "Why other people pregnant, you also pregnant, but other people can, you cannot?"

1. Its not like I can choose right? I also wish I didn't have all those symptoms like some lucky women out there, and I am already suay enough to get a rough ride.

2. Even if other people out there do have a tough time, you wouldn't know! You just assume everyone has a smooth pregnancy.

3. I grow up being compared to. "Why other children so obedient and you are not?", "Why XX gets 100 marks for exams and you cannot?" Comparison just stings me ok! I hate it so much and I don't think I ever compared you with others, but why are you always comparing me?

This is not the first time I experience this with you. Remember you think I did something wrong? And instead of telling me straight, you said "What you did was just like XX (someone I really dislike)". I could have done something wrong, but once you start comparing, I will think you are wrong. But you insist I did not want to admit my mistake, which is not true. I thought from then onwards, you will not compare me again, but you still did.

I hope this man won't do the same to our kid. Comparison sucks.

The friends

I probably only told 3 other persons about my pregnancy other than Vincent. No I did not even tell my mother - I will elaborate this further later.

Hanxiang- I'm glad I spoke to someone like her. Only mummies who experienced shit will understand. At times like this, a good girlfriend is so much more comforting than.. You know.. The husband.

Apple- Always ready to answer my queries, so encouraging, and thanks for keeping my pregnancy a secret, must be hard for you hahahaha. The milk powder she recommended is yummy!!

Kaiwen- We bumped into each other last december and the moment she saw me she went "Eh are you pregnant?" What a stunner lah this woman. We haven't met for the longest time and I don't remember when we last conversed. Nonetheless I am super duper touched, it shows that she had been paying attention to me, and not everyone can pick up things like that, you need to know me well first.

This make me realise I've made great friends!! So blessed :)

The mother

Sadly, my mother feels more like a mother-in-law. Nothing against my mother-in-law here, she's really chill about it and I super appreciate that.

Anyway, back to my mum. When ladies find out they are pregnant, the first person they wanna talk to will be their mum. Not for me, I never intend to tell her about my pregnancy, don't ask me why, I can't explain. Maybe we don't have that kind of relationship. Or maybe I don't want any overreacting. Something in me just don't want her to know.

Eventually she knew. I don't feel the saying "you become closer to your mum after you are pregnant". I wanna run away from her!

Now let me explain the mother-in-law syndrome. It is said that when one is pregnant, her mum will care for her, while the mother-in-law cares for the baby. When visiting at the hospital after child birth, the mum looks for her daughter and the mother-in-law looks for the grandchild. Get it, right?

Ok, besides the constant nagging which I cannot stand for 31 years, one day she started scolding me for skipping breakfast. Reason being, if I don't eat, my baby don't eat. Hello, for 31 years you didn't care if I eat breakfast, now you are worried about your grandchild going hungry, thank you very much.

My mum kept asking me how many months I am into my pregnancy, because I shouldn't be feeling nauseous and tired already. Yes, I bring over the morning sickness into my 2nd trimester. The way she asked me, she doesn't really care that I feel unwell, she just WANTS to know how many months pregnant I was. Even previously when I complained about feeling terrible, she just brushed it off my saying thats a norm. Suddenly she bugs me about how many months. I did not tell her. I just said I dunno. Its my instinct/ refex that I reacted that way (like when you sense something amiss and you need self defence).

If I told her I'm already in my 2nd trimester, she is going to brag to the world about me getting pregnant, like a mother-in-law. Parents wish for their daughter-in-laws to conceive despite knowing its tough, but feel for their daughters having to go through pregnancy, not my mum.

Even till today, I did not tell her how long into pregnancy I am. But I guess she figured it out herself. During CNY, all the relatives whom I didn't talk to for the past year started congratulating me. Can you imagine how absurd I feel? I'm not even showing yet and I dunno why people are congratulating me. Mummy, can you have some respect for me? Maybe I do not want people to know? Or maybe I think I should be the one breaking the news?

The saddest thing? I was mostly on mc throughout January, I probably went to school once or twice, but even so, my classmates noticed I was feeling down. They said I'm not the usual happy me anymore, and started showing their concern. I cannot imagine, you knew me for 31 years and you never asked how I was feeling (I was obviously depressed because even people who don't know me well and saw me a few hours can tell). You were only concern about baby going hungry, and obssessed with the number of months I'm pregnant.

This episode with my mum, or rather my relationship with my mum my whole life just makes me feel like crap. Especially now that I'm going to be a mother myself. I envy people who are close with their mums. I just can't. I feel sorry for my mum, for having a daughter who wouldn't share anything with her. There's nothing I can do now our relationship turned out this way. Maybe, just maybe, if you had taken my side once when I still shared things with you, we would not be like this.
Because of my mum, I have a daughter phobia. All my friends know I prefer having boys. Truthfully, its not because I really prefer boys. In fact, my relationship with my mum traumatise me so much I am scared of having a daughter.

Most of my friends cannot understand, because they have great relationship with their mums, and they prefer daughters. Like how you need your parents to be happily married to walk into marriage with confidence, the same goes to child bearing.

Fortunately, Hanxiang's daughter Yi Jing had been such a darling. She is a game changer. Plus having been through a scare of losing my baby along the way, gender doesn't matter anymore, I will embrace a baby girl as much as I will embrace a baby boy. Just be healthy, ok?

The father

To all the daughters in the world, daddy is always the best! Although my papa still cares for me in the wrong way, I can feel that he just cares about me, not my baby, not my to-be-proud-of pregnancy, just me.
So is my godpa.

Thankful for the fathers!

The cousins

I'm glad that at my age, there are still people who can play with me till we order macdonald breakfast. Not everyone has awesome cousins like me. Most importantly, they treat me like a normal human being after they knew I'm pregnant. Yes, when everyone else treats you like a fragile little kitten, tells you what you should do and what you shouldn't for days, being normal is all that you want.

Final thoughts

1. It is so nice to just be normal.
2. Pregnancy is a little test to marriage, we are all good now, because I'm normal again.
3. Pregnancy surely makes you rethink your relationship with your parents.
4. I appreciate good health and people that matters more.
5. I wish for my baby to be happy, strong and healthy.

I'm happy that despite the customary wedding and banquet, we had a small affair of our own, because this is my dream wedding.

I've always wanted an outdoor wedding with just the closest families and friends. I love the venue because it's a garden and duhhhhhh... I'm always into greens and flowers. I love the green and yellow theme, it gives off a very happy vibe, I love the spiral arrangement so everyone has a clear view, I love the weather that day too.

I always dream of wearing a short wedding dress. Long dresses are not my thing, while canvas shoes are, and I'm glad my sisters found it for me despite all the mess. I also had my baby's breath bouquet which I really really wanted.

I did my own nails and my own makeup as I wished. Had Rus to do my hair and I think it's so sweet to have a girlfriend willing to be responsible for me that day. Silly me forgot to bring the flower crown I bought for this event, but because of these imperfections, this wedding is so ME.

It was a big mess, but girlfriends always come to the rescue. At one time, I had my right ring finger applying concealer on my undereye, my left hand soothing out my hair while Phyllis sprays it, and my foot stepping into the wedding dress which Michelle was holding out. All at the same time!! I am a god of multitasking or what! I'm so impressed with myself:)

To me, that's what a wedding is supposed to be, creating memories like that.

My wedding venue.

Justice of Peace

Cousins and auntie.

Everyone in the glass pavilion.

Hardworking cousin.

More self entertain cousins.

Our flower ring pillow.

Jumping cousins.

Our papas.

Here we come, walking with the groove of our march in song.

I don't know why I'm leading him all the way.

Really very hardworking these cousins.

<3 p="">

Done deal.

Mandatory shot.

Brothers and sisters.

Vincent and one of his brothers made this wedding cake. I always find cutting the dummy cake at banquet very lame, so I really appreciate having a real cake on my wedding.

Again my zi-high cousins.

Just married!

Woohoo!!!

Happy that Joanne caught my bouquet!

Korean dramas have officially turned me into a flirt. Hahahahaha! So I'm gonna write a post on my Korean loves and the different types of lovers.

Of course, we have the first love. My first love is Seo In Guk from Reply 1997. It's my first ever Korean drama, and also the very drama that reversed my prejudice against Kdramas. It is still my #1 drama till today, nothing changed. I guess that's why first loves are always unforgettable.

Seo In Guk as Yoon Yoon Jae in Reply 1997.

His intense gaze when he ask if he should not go out with another girl.

Next up, Kim Woo Bin. He is my definition of handsome. He has really fair skin but exudes masculine charm with his strong jawline. Very versatile, one moment he's the guy next door, next moment he's full of bay boy vibes. He is the type whom you only crushes on but never confess. Guys too handsome will break your heart! But he's still a sweetheart nonetheless.

My dreamy eye candy~

Next one is a trap. Women my age tends to fail for younger guys because older guys just don't carry out sweet gestures anymore. Then a frail looking guy comes along and looks as if he needs alot of care and protection. After a while, you realise they are very childish and attention seeking. So you broke up. This guy is none other than Lee Jong Suk.

He is not bad an actor but I had too high hopes for him in Doctor Stranger and he FAIL.

If you notice, I prefer guys with small eyes. So this one up is the first big eye guy who catches my attention. Ji Chang Wook! Feeling so reluctant to watch Empress Ki because it's freaking 50 episodes. Cousin persuaded me and I watched. Ended up falling in love with this guy's smile. When he smiles, OMG I cannot describe! Like the sky is raining cotton candy???

 Best emperor and empress ever:)

 Happy carrying his baby. Awwwwww~~

Signature Ji Chang Wook smile.

Last but not least, I finally met someone I want to marry. I knew who he was, but when I knew him in Strong Heart, I wasn't looking for a marriage partner yet. Now that I saw him again on Roommate, I just know he's THE ONE! Weird I only know him on variety shows when he's an actor! Better late than never, I'm watching his drama now. He proposed to the female lead in one recent episodes and I was like "Yes, I'll marry you!"

Roommate photo!
I really love how he talks to Ga Yeon and showed her more attention. He said that's because Ga Yeon is the maknae and unlike the others, she's a professional fighter, so she's not used to so many cameras.

I hate that people are shipping my Dong Wook with Park Bom..... BOOOOOO!
If I have to choose one in Roommate, I want it to be Hong Soo Hyun.

As you can see, this is big-eyes number 2! But its ok because he has 鱼尾纹. 鱼尾纹 the best!!! I find guys who have 鱼尾纹 super charming. Hanxiang and I used to have a friend who has 鱼尾纹 when he smiles. I can't stop admiring those 鱼尾纹. Yes, only the 鱼尾纹!

Ok, that's it! My ultimate guy is Lee Dong Wook!

Different stages in life...

When I was 18 years old, I hope people would think I'm pretty. That is the age where teenage girls love compliments like that. It feels like a bud had blossomed into a flower. I was very concern about my looks, and I can starve just to lose weight.

When I was 25, I wanted to be seen as intelligent. If someone were to say I'm stupid sincerely, I would have been very hurt. I try to look and sound intelligent as much as I could. I was very afraid of doing or saying something that makes me look stupid.

Now, nearing my 30s, I think the best compliment I can ever get is that I'm kind. Being kind would not mean a thing to me when I was 18 or 25. I probably would say things like "how much is kindness worth" or "kindness will not pay off". Something along that line.

善良means alot to me now. It takes alot of wisdom to be someone truly kind. It takes alot more for someone to say someone is kind. Not the sarcastic “他长的很善良“ type. But appreciative type.

My thinking changed so much within 10 years. I find it so amazing to experience these different stages in life already. Looking forward to the rest of my life, and I really want to pen down my different 感想 and 体验.

Like the saying goes, life is a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. I hope the people who still bothers to read my blog can live a colorful life too!!

珍惜当下。现在不开心的,委屈的,挫败的,记得“以后的你“ 想起现在这的你,会会心一笑说自己以前好傻。
